Novel ideas about emergent vacua
Arguments for special emergent vacua which generate fermion and weak boson
masses are outlined. Limitations and consequences of the concept are discussed.
If confirmed the Australian dipole would give strong support to such a picture.
Preliminary support from recent DZero and CDF data is discussed and predictions
for LHC are presented.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, The interpretation of new experimental results is

W(infty)-Covariance of the Weyl-Wigner-Groenewold-Moyal Quantization
The differential structure of operator bases used in various forms of the
Weyl-Wigner-Groenewold-Moyal (WWGM) quantization is analyzed and a
derivative-based approach, alternative to the conventional integral-based one
is developed. Thus the fundamental quantum relations follow in a simpler and
unified manner. An explicit formula for the ordered products of the
Heisenberg-Weyl algebra is obtained. The W(infty) -covariance of the
WWGM-quantization in its most general form is established. It is shown that the
group action of W(infty) that is realized in the classical phase space induces
on bases operators in the corresponding Hilbert space a similarity
transformation generated by the corresponding quantum W(infty) which provides a
projective representation of the former . Explicit expressions for
the algebra generators in the classical phase space and in the Hilbert space
are given. It is made manifest that this W(infty)-covariance of the
WWGM-quantization is a genuine property of the operator bases.Comment: 14 pages, Latex file. No figures. To apear in J. Math. Phy
Hadronic photon interactions at high energies
A simple phenomenological introduction to the physics of multi-pomeron
exchange amplitudes in connection with the Abramovski-Gribov-Kancheli (AGK)
cutting rules is given. The AGK cutting rules are applied to obtain qualitative
and quantitative predictions on multiparticle production at high energies. On
this basis, particle production in hadron-hadron scattering, photoproduction,
and in particular the transition to deep-inelastic scattering is discussed.Comment: LaTeX, 6 pages, 6 ps-figs, sprocl.sty, talk given by R. Engel at

Antibaryon to Baryon Production Ratios in Pb-Pb and p-p collision at LHC energies of the DPMJET-III Monte Carlo
A sizable component of stopped baryons is predicted for pp and P bP b
collisions at LHC. Based on an analysis of RHIC data within framework of our
multichain Monte Carlo DPMJET-III the LHC predictions are presented.Comment: Presented at "Heavy Ion Collisions at the LHC: last call for

d-Au and p-p collisions at RHIC and the multichain Monte Carlo Dpmjet-III
In this paper we compare systematically the two-component Dual Parton Model
(DPM) event generator Dpmjet-III to d-Au and p-p data from RHIC. In this
process we are able to improve the model. The need for fusion of chains and a
recalibration of the model to obtain collision scaling in h-A and d-A
collisions was found already in previous comparisons. Here, comparing to
transverse momentum distributions of identified charged hadrons we find also
the need to modify the transverse momentum distributions in the decay of
hadronic strings, the basic building blocks of the model on soft hadronic
collisions.Comment: 8 pages, 13 figures, Based on a contribution to a workshop "QCD at

RHIC data and the multichain Monte Carlo DPMJET-II
Using data from RHIC we are able to systematically improve the two-component
Dual Parton Model (DPM) event generator DPMJET-III. Introducing percolation
parametrized as fusion of chains the model describes multiplicities and
pseudorapidity distributions in nucleus-nucleus collisions at all centralities.
Guided by the d-Au data from RHIC we recalibrate the model to obtain collision
scaling in h-A and d-A collisions.Comment: 8 pages, Based on a poster submitted to the 17th International

Optical design and computation
Naturally in the more final stages of design accurate ray tracing or an equivalent thereof is imperative. Also in this respect development has taken place only in comparatively recent years. Before introduction of the desk calculator the usual method was purely trigonometrically using log tables. When-using desk calculators log tables are of course unnecessary and the natural values of the trigonometrical functions are used, preferably in decimal degree fractions or radians, as arguments
Wigner Oscillators, Twisted Hopf Algebras and Second Quantization
By correctly identifying the role of central extension in the centrally
extended Heisenberg algebra h, we show that it is indeed possible to construct
a Hopf algebraic structure on the corresponding enveloping algebra U(h) and
eventually deform it through Drinfeld twist. This Hopf algebraic structure and
its deformed version U^F(h) are shown to be induced from a more fundamental
Hopf algebra obtained from the Schroedinger field/oscillator algebra and its
deformed version, provided that the fields/oscillators are regarded as
odd-elements of the super-algebra osp(1|2n). We also discuss the possible
implications in the context of quantum statistics.Comment: 23 page
Inclusive distributions in p-p collisions at LHC energies compared with an adjusted DPMJET-III model with chain fusion
A DPMJET-III model (DPMJET-III-2011) with chain fusion adjusted to include
energy.dependent parameters is used to calculate inclusive distributions in p-p
collisions at LHC energies. Presented are charged hadrons rapidity
distributions, transverse momentum distributions, multiplicity distributions as
well as multiplicities at mid-rapidity as function of the collision energy. For
hadrons with strangeness we present cms-rapidity distributions and transverse
momentum distributions. With the considered merely energy-dependent adjustments
the obtained agreement with the transversal \Lambda and \Xi distribution is not
satisfactory.Comment: 14 pages,10 figure
